FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 6, 2026
Washington, D.C. – The Alliance for Aviation Across America today applauded North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong for proclaiming March as Aviation Month. General aviation and the 89 public airports across North Dakota play a vital role in supporting the state’s communities, businesses, and agricultural operations.
According to the 2015 North Dakota Statewide Aviation Economic Impact Study, general aviation airports support more than $121 million in total economic impact annually, and airports across the state support more than $1.5 billion in total economic impact per year. General aviation airports in North Dakota also support over 900 jobs and a payroll of more than $41 million.
“General aviation helps sustain local businesses of all sizes, strengthens agriculture, and ensures community connectivity, especially in rural areas,” said Devin Osting, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “On a daily basis, North Dakota’s airports and general aviation community serve as critical lifelines for communities across the state. We applaud Governor Armstrong for this recognition, which underscores the many ways general aviation supports North Dakota’s economy and communities.”
