Washington, D.C. — The Alliance for Aviation Across America today praised the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Bryan Bedford as the next administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). His appointment comes on the heels of the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, committing a historic investment of more than $12.5 billion in modernizing the nation’s air traffic control system, a top priority at the outset of Bedford’s tenure.
“As communities across the country work to grow their economies, respond to emergencies, and stay connected, strong leadership at the FAA is more important than ever,” said Devin Osting, executive director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We congratulate Bryan Bedford on his confirmation and look forward to working together to ensure that the aviation system continues to serve the needs of small businesses, family farms, and rural communities nationwide. That includes advancing air traffic control modernization based on the consensus of the aviation sector, in a way that improves efficiency, access and safety — without turning over control of this vital public service to private interests.”
Bedford brings decades of experience in aviation leadership and operations, most recently as CEO of Republic Airways. His confirmation comes at a pivotal moment, as policymakers work to implement needed investments in aviation infrastructure, enhance safety, and address the nationwide shortage of air traffic controllers.
Local airports and general aviation provide critical services — including emergency response, agricultural support, and business connectivity — while supporting over $339 billion in annual economic activity and 1.3 million American jobs. These airports are especially vital in rural and underserved areas, where they often serve as a primary link to the national transportation network.
“We urge the FAA under Administrator Bedford’s leadership to ensure that these investments benefit all communities across the country and all segments of the aviation sector,” Osting added. “A safe, modern, and equitable aviation system must reflect the diverse needs of the entire country.”
The Alliance also extended its gratitude to Acting Administrator Chris Rocheleau for his steady leadership during a time of transition for the agency and the aviation industry.
