FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 14, 2025
Washington, D.C. – The Alliance for Aviation Across America today applauded North Carolina Governor Josh Stein for proclaiming April as General Aviation Appreciation Month. General aviation and the 72 public airports across North Carolina play a vital role in supporting the state’s communities, businesses, and emergency response efforts.
According to a newly released study by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, general aviation airports support more than 30,000 jobs and approximately $7.1 billion annually in economic output for the state.
“In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in October 2024, general aviation and local airports were instrumental in delivering disaster relief, transporting critical supplies, and supporting emergency response efforts across affected areas of the state,” said Devin Osting, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “On a day-to-day basis, general aviation helps sustain local businesses of all sizes, strengthens agriculture, and ensures community connectivity, especially in rural areas. We applaud Governor Stein for this recognition, which underscores the many ways general aviation supports North Carolina’s economy and communities.”
