Washington, DC – This week, the Alliance for Aviation Across America and its aviation partners applauded Governor Henry McMaster for declaring August 15-21 “South Carolina Aviation Week.” The aviation industry contributes over $16 billion to South Carolina’s economy.
The Alliance for Aviation Across America Executive Director Selena Shilad said the following, “Aviation, including general aviation and local airports in South Carolina, is vital to the state’s economy and local businesses, supporting more than 122,000 jobs with an estimated payroll of $4.8 billion. This proclamation will help to highlight this important form of transportation, especially in rural and coastal communities, and comes at a crucial time as many of these companies and communities continue to recover from the pandemic and natural disasters.”
According to the proclamation:
“With more than 400 aerospace-related companies in the Palmetto State, aviation is a multi-billion dollar industry that supports hundreds of thousands of jobs and contributes millions of dollars each year in tax revenues to state and local governments.”
