Washington, DC – The Alliance for Aviation Across America today applauded the efforts of local leaders and leading national general aviation groups to recognize the value of the Oceano Airport to the local community and economy in California.
Specifically, yesterday, the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) and local airport and community leaders held an event to highlight the importance of the airport. Across California, general aviation supports more than $32.7 billion in total output, 148,300 jobs, and over $11.3 billion in labor income. Nationwide, general aviation and local airports support a total economic impact of more than $246.8 billion annually and more than 1.1 million jobs. The Alliance for Aviation Across America Executive Director Selena Shilad said the following, “General aviation and local airports like Oceano are vital to supporting jobs, economic activity, critical services, and now, the distribution of vaccines, PPE, and other essential services. As we emerge from this pandemic, our network of local airports will play a vital role in supporting our nation’s economic recovery. It’s encouraging to see business and civic leaders working to raise awareness about this vital asset.
Formed in 2007, the Alliance for Aviation Across America is a non-profit coalition of over 7,000 individuals, businesses, agricultural groups, FBO’s, airports, elected officials, charitable organizations, and leading business and aviation groups that support the interests of the general aviation community across various public policy issues.
