Today, the Alliance for Aviation Across America applauded Governor Butch Otter for declaring June 2018 “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Idaho, general aviation contributes over $1.1 billion to the state’s total economic output.
“Idaho’s 128 public-use general aviation airports are a lifeline to communities across the state, connecting them to cities and towns and providing access to commerce and medical services,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Governor Otter for issuing this proclamation and highlighting the importance of general aviation and our network of airports.”
Mark Kimberling, President and CEO of the National Association of State Aviation Officials stated, “Idaho’s network of airports, including their vast number of back-country airstrips is a critical part of the state’s infrastructure. For many communities across the state, these airports play an important role in supporting transportation access and the local economy. We thank Governor Otter and Mike Pape, Administrator of the Division of Aeronautics, for supporting general aviation and community airports throughout Idaho.”
According to the proclamation:
“The State of Idaho has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions, aviation organizations, community airports and airport operators.”
