Today, the Alliance for Aviation Across America applauded Governor Phil Murphy for declaring May 2018 as “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In New Jersey, general aviation airports contribute more than $2.8 billion to the state’s economy.
“General aviation and local airports are an important part of New Jersey’s infrastructure,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Governor Murphy for issuing this proclamation and highlighting the importance of general aviation.”
“General aviation supports highly skilled jobs across New Jersey and plays a vital role in supporting law enforcement, medical care, and disaster relief efforts in communities across the state,” said Timothy R. Obitts, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the National Air Transportation Association. “NATA and our member companies in New Jersey applaud Governor Murphy for highlighting the contributions made by this important industry to businesses throughout the Garden State.”
According to the proclamation:
“General aviation provides a substantial economic benefit to New Jersey from the operation of the public use airport system and from the tourism and commerce it supports.”
