Governor Raimondo Declares April ‘General Aviation Appreciation Month’
The Alliance for Aviation Across America today applauded Governor Gina Raimondo for declaring April 2018 “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Rhode Island, general aviation supports over $213 million to that state’s economy each year.
“General aviation and our local airports provide a key link for businesses in communities across the state, connect our communities and drive our economy,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Governor Raimondo for issuing the proclamation and recognizing the importance of general aviation.”
“Rhode Island’s heliports and public-use airports play an important public safety role by supporting law enforcement, search and rescue operations, and air ambulances,” said Matt Zuccaro, President of Helicopter Association International. “We thank Governor Raimondo and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation for their continued recognition and support of general aviation.”
According to the proclamation:
“General aviation plays a vital role in the state’s response to emergencies and natural disasters, rescue operations such as air ambulance transports by fixed wing and rotor craft, in addition to police, warden, and mail service that routinely utilize general aviation to support daily operations and communication.”
