The Alliance for Aviation Across America today applauded Governor Doug Burgum for declaring March 2018 “Aviation Month.” In North Dakota, general aviation airports support more than $121 million in total economic output each year.
“Communities all across North Dakota rely on general aviation and local airports,” Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “General aviation plays an important role in supporting agriculture, businesses and communities of all sizes in North Dakota. It also connects communities with critical services like emergency medical care. We thank Governor Burgum for issuing the proclamation and recognizing the importance of general aviation in North Dakota.”
“General aviation airports of all sizes help to support nearly every sector of North Dakota’s economy, as well as vital community access, public safety and land management,” said Mark Kimberling, President and CEO of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO). “We commend Governor Burgum and the Director of the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission, Kyle Wanner, for their strong support for this vital network of airports spanning across the state.”
According to the proclamation:
“Aviation is an essential part of our agricultural productivity as 101 aerial applicator businesses provided service to over 2.5 million acres of crops in 2017.”
