The Alliance for Aviation Across America today applauded Governor Tom Wolf for declaring April 19th ‘‘General Aviation Appreciation Day.” In Pennsylvania, public-use airports contribute more than $23.6 billion in economic impact each year and support approximately 304,462 jobs.
“General aviation is critical for Pennsylvania’s businesses, farms, and communities, connecting them with goods, plants, and critical services. Emergency and specialized medical care, firefighting, search and rescue, and law enforcement all rely on general aviation to respond quickly and increase their range of service,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank the Governor for issuing the proclamation and the Aviation Council of Pennsylvania for their work supporting aviation and local airports across the state.”
According to the proclamation:
“General aviation airports support 304,500 jobs across the state and sustain a payroll of over $9.2 billion.”
