    The Alliance for Aviation Across America Commends Governor Hutchinson for Declaring February ‘General Aviation Appreciation Month’

    Washington, DC – The Alliance for Aviation Across America today commended Governor Hutchinson for proclaiming February “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Arkansas, general aviation airports support an economic value of more than $494 million annually and 5,400 jobs.

    “We thank Governor Hutchinson for his proclamation, which showcases the benefits of general aviation and local airports in Arkansas,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “General aviation helps boost local economies, supports agriculture and connects rural communities throughout the country.”

    “Using business aviation, companies in Arkansas can more effectively manage their daily operations, reach their customers, transport essential supplies and engage new marketplaces,” explained Ed Bolen, President and CEO of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). “We thank the Governor for this proclamation and look forward to working with him on issues critical to business aviation.”

    “General aviation strengthens communities, engages and inspires youth, and serves as a pastime for many Americans,” said Jack Pelton, Chairman and CEO of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). “We appreciate this proclamation and look forward to continuing to work with the Governor on this important effort.”

    Greg Principato, President and CEO of that National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) stated, “Arkansas’ network of 100 public-use airports is a critical component of the state’s transportation infrastructure, and helps to connect the communities of the state. We thank Governor Hutchinson and Director of the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics, Jerry Chism, for their work supporting general aviation and community airports throughout the state.”

    “General aviation is critical to the economy of Arkansas and provides jobs and business growth throughout the state,” stated Thomas L. Hendricks, President and CEO of the National Air Transportation Association. “NATA and our member companies in Arkansas thank Governor Hutchinson for recognizing general aviation’s contributions to the state and look forward to working with him on aviation business issues in the future.”

    “Helicopters and other general aviation aircraft are essential to supporting medical and emergency services, law enforcement, fire fighting and disaster relief efforts the country,” Matthew Zuccaro, President of the Helicopter Association International (HAI). “We thank the Governor for supporting this important lifeline for communities across our nation.”
