The Alliance Commends Wyoming Governor for Declaring June ‘General Aviation Appreciation Month’

Washington, DC— Today, the Alliance for Aviation Across America applauded Wyoming Governor Matthew H. Mead for declaring June 2014 “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Wyoming, general aviation accounts for $101 million in annual economic activity statewide.

“We commend Governor Mead for recognizing the crucial role of general aviation in Wyoming and throughout the nation,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “In addition to helping to drive business and economic growth, general aviation connects communities with critical life-saving services, including law-enforcement, emergency medical response, firefighting, search-and-rescue and disaster relief. We thank Governor Mead for recognizing this important industry, and look forward to working with him on this and other issues related to general aviation and local airports.”

General aviation helps businesses of all sizes to operate more efficiently, allowing them to reach far-off markets and rural areas that otherwise would not be accessible, minimizing travel time between meetings and allowing them to transport tools and supplies.  Not only that, general aviation supports agriculture, law enforcement, medical care, disaster relief, and a host of other important services.
