The Alliance Commends Bingen Mayor Betty Barnes for Declaring February ‘General Aviation Appreciation Month’

Washington, DC — The Alliance for Aviation Across America today commended Mayor Betty Barnes of Bingen, Washington for proclaiming February “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Washington, the general aviation industry represents $3.18 billion in economic activity annually. In the state of Oregon, general aviation helps to support approximately $3 billion in business sales. The Columbia Gorge Regional Airport has an annual economic impact of $2.4 million and supports 38 local jobs.

“This proclamation helps to educate the public about the benefits of general aviation in the local community, and the vital activities at the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport, including agricultural flying, air ambulance services, medical transportation for non-emergency services, fighting wild fires, aerial tours, flight training, and many more,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Mayor Barnes for her efforts in highlighting the value of general aviation and hope to continue to work with her in the future.”
