  • Hundreds of Arizonans filed into Chandler Municipal Airport Jan. 24 for its annual “Airport Day” open house.

Between propeller-driven and jet varieties, aircraft of many types, sizes and engine configurations were on display, many with the opportunity for young and young-at-heart aviation buffs to sit in, or at least peek into the cabin.

First-responders, exposed engines and various aspects of aircraft support were on display as well. Event-goers also enjoyed the wide variety of food truck fare that have become common at Chandler events.

The annual Airport Day was held on an unseasonably warm, calm, clear day this time.

New this year, attendees could pick up an Airport Day passport and collect stamps as they explore hands-on and interactive stations, highlighting airport facts, community impact and the potential for future growth.

Children enjoyed a coloring and paper airplane-making station.
