TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Regional Airport will soon be installing a solar farm.
About a year ago, Terre Haute Regional Airport received a grant of nearly $500,000 from the state of Indiana to install a solar farm. The airport is now in the process of beginning construction. This will be a 3-acre field solar farm.
At their board meeting this week, they solidified their management agreement with PSG Energy contracts. Kelsey Veatch said it’s common to have solar farms at airports because there is a lot of land that can’t be used for anything else and said this solar farm will help the airport save energy.
“It’s going to provide a lot of revenue source for us to be able to offset some expenses for our aviation academy that we did just work with the Vigo County school corporation to open up this past fall,” said Veatch.
