TYLER, Texas (KETK) — Tyler Legacy High School Medical Terminology students recently had the opportunity to learn about healthcare careers and emergency response procedures from the CHRISTUS Health Flight-for-Life helicopter crew.
The helicopter landed on the southwest lawn of the campus, as students watched in awe. Medical Terminology teacher, Brooklynn Thompson, organized the event in collaboration with CHRISTUS Health, the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport director and Tyler Legacy Coach Henry, whose students were also invited to participate.
Following the landing, students met with the flight crew, who educated them on emergency response procedures, the medical equipment used on board, and the critical role of teamwork in saving lives. They were also able to ask questions about healthcare careers, education pathways, and real-world experiences in the medical field.
“The students were able to connect directly with healthcare professionals, ask thoughtful questions, and gain real-world insight into their future careers,” Thompson said. “We’re so thankful to CHRISTUS for making this visit possible—our students left inspired and excited about the possibilities ahead!”
