The Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce is applauding the bipartisan efforts of two Minnesota members of Congress for “their leadership in advancing the development and adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) through their work with the Congressional Sustainable Aviation Caucus.”
The Rochester Chamber calls SAF a cutting-edge innovation that contributes to a more sustainable future by reducing carbon emissions by up to 80% and helping the aviation industry, including general aviation, reach its commitment of net-zero emissions by 2050.
The Chamber says it is proud to recognize and commend the work of U.S. Representatives Brad Finstad (MN-01) and Angie Craig (MN-02) to promote SAF.
“The bipartisan support for SAF is a testament to its benefits,” says Ryan Parsons, President of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce. “This emerging industry not only addresses sustainability but also creates substantial economic opportunities, particularly here in the Rochester region. The collaboration between Representative Finstad and Representative Craig demonstrates how bipartisan efforts can drive meaningful progress in both sustainability efforts and economic growth.”
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says SAF production could create over 220,000 jobs, generate $9.3 billion in labor income, and contribute more than $70 billion annually to economic output across the Midwest. The Chamber says the Rochester area has already seen the positive impacts of innovation in sectors such as healthcare and biotechnology and stands to benefit greatly from this new frontier of sustainable energy.
“SAF represents the next major opportunity for innovation and investment in our region,” says Jonathon Krull, Senior Director of Public Affairs at the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce. “The leadership shown by Representative Finstad and Representative Craig ensures that Minnesota is at the forefront of this exciting and transformative industry. Their efforts exemplify the kind of bipartisan collaboration that can drive sustainability efforts while boosting our local economy—a true win-win for everyone.”
