  • The Taos Regional Airport will be used for emergency aircraft services related to the Calf Canyon – Hermit’s Peak wildfire, limiting the use of commercial aircraft at the airport, the Town of Taos announced on Thursday (May 19).

“Taos Regional Airport is limiting operations of private and commercial flights due to heavy fire support activity,” read a news release from the town. “The airport will continue with medical flights to ensure uninterrupted safety operations, but has limited other operations.” This is to allow for emergency aircraft and “light, medium and heavy lift helicopters” to better assist the ongoing fire efforts.

“Taos residence can expect to see increased air activity over the Town of Taos and surrounding region until the fire is contained,” continued the release.
