Cub Scouts will be learning about aviation, robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles and more at an event this weekend.
The Monticello District of the Boy Scouts of America’s Virginia Headwaters Council will be hosting its annual Cub Scout Aviation Day and Camporee at the Gordonsville Municipal Airport on Saturday.
According to a release, this event is being put on in partnership with the Town of Gordonsville and the Gordonsville Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the Virginia Department of Aviation will have exhibits.
There will also be airplane and helicopter fly-ins, bi-plane raffles and rides, remote control aircraft demonstrations, robotics, airplane exhibits, drone flights, water rockets, and other flight-related activities.
Then during the evening, the University of Virginia Department of Astronomy will focus on outer space with a Dark Skies, Bright Kids! Program. This will include an inflatable planetarium.
This event is open to all Cub Scouts and their families from the greater Charlottesville area. It costs $20 per Cub Scout to attend, but their family members get in for free.
The event is split into two time slots, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
