MANSFIELD — The City of Mansfield will receive a $59,000 grant for Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport from the United States Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
These funds are to be used for operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at the airports.
Lahm was one of four airports in the region to receive such funding, according to Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), a Mansfield Senior graduate.
The four grants to airports in Northeast Ohio, total $172,000. These funds were made possible through the American Rescue Plan, which Brown helped write and pass.
“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” Brown said. “These investments will provide Northeast Ohio airports with the resources they need to ensure the safety of their passengers and support the local economy.”
FAA funds include:
$59,000 grant to the City of Mansfield for the Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport.
$32,000 grant to the City of Medina for the Medina Municipal Airport.
$59,000 grant to the Lorain County Board of Commissioners for the Lorain County Regional Airport.
$22,000 grant Holmes County Airport Authority and Board of Commissioners for the Holmes County Airport.
The FAA supports public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) through the Airport Improvement Program. The program supports projects that improve airport safety, capacity, security and environmental impact.
