  • Aviation Career Education program explores different areas of the industry

Teens are taking part in a aviation program this week at the Hartness State Airport in Springfield.

The Aviation Career Education Program, known as ACE, explores different jobs related to the industry. It’s supported by the Federal Aviation Administration and supported by Vermont Aviation.

“I heard about ACE camp from someone who had done ACE camp…before and they recommended it because they knew I was interested in aviation,” said Ben Berg, 13, who’s participating in the program.

During the week, the teens have the chance to tour an FAA control tower, learn about aerobatics and more.

On Wednesday, campers had the chance to head up in the air with former ACE participant Felipe Jonah.

“Now I’m spreading, hopefully the interest in aviation by taking these kids flying, trying to get them hooked on it,” said Jonah, a pilot who attends Vermont Technical College.

The camp runs through the end of the week.
