  • GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A recent report by North Carolina’s Division of Aviation finds the Pitt-Greenville Airport’s economic output is $280.7 million every year.

PGV also produces 1,650 jobs, nearly $9 million in state and local taxes as well as about $60 million in personal income.

“Every year we carry 91,000 passengers who are visiting, conducting business and taking vacations,” said Eric Clark, airport chair. “Not only do we provide a service, but as this study showed, PGV has a tremendous role in the economic health of our community.”

With a thousand acres, two runways and all-jet service, the airport services nearly 200 people every day.

In the past two years, $19 million in investments helped the airport expand its terminal as well as paid for upgrades and repairs.

PGV’s longest runway can accommodate aircraft as large as the Boeing 757 with its general aviation service including about 70 private craft.

The business being done at PGV plays a part in the state’s overall economic outlook with public airports across the state bringing in approximately $52 billion to North Carolina’s economy.

Also highlighted in this report is the state’s growing aerospace and manufacturing sector which includes Spirit Aerospace which has a plant at the Global Transpark in Kinston.
