SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A group of underserved teens in Santa Barbara County got the chance to take flight on Saturday.
The non-profit A Different Point of View made it possible, in conjunction with Above All Aviation Flight School.
Lynn Houston is the driving force behind the organization which offers air traffic control, aircraft maintenance workshops, full motion simulator training and professional flight lessons for teenagers.
But the organization also aims to “engage, inspire and transform” their young lives.
“We really show them a world they’ve never seem before. We work with youth in the juvenile justice system, and low income housing youth from all walks of life,” said Houston. “We teach them to become captains of their own lives.”
