WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Alliance for Aviation Across America applauded a move by South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard for declaring June 2017 “General Aviation Appreciation Month.”
In South Dakota, the aviation industry supports $250 million in economic output each year.
“Many businesses and communities in South Dakota rely on general aviation to support economic growth,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “General aviation supports agriculture, emergency services, law enforcement, and firefighting. We thank Governor Daugaard for the proclamation and for recognizing general aviation’s important role in the State.”
According to the proclamation:
“General aviation contributes to the state’s economy, medical care, transports goods to Native American reservations, supports forest fire fighting, and boosts economic development for small communities.”
