The Alliance for Aviation Across America is applauding Florida Governor Rick Scott for declaring April 2017 as “Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Florida, general aviation airports contribute more than $7.7 billion to the state’s economy annually.
“General aviation and our network of local airports represent a vital link for communities to access many services throughout Florida,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Governor Scott for issuing the proclamation and recognizing the significant impact of general aviation in Florida.”
“Florida’s airports represent critical infrastructure that helps businesses and communities to connect to other regions and transport personnel, food, parts, and medical supplies,” said Mark Kimberling, President and CEO of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO). “We thank Governor Scott and Aaron Smith, State Aviation Manager, for their support of community airports and general aviation across Florida.”
“General aviation and the businesses that rely on it are essential to Florida’s manufacturing industry, job creation and the state’s economy,” said Martin H. Hiller, President of the National Air Transportation Association. “NATA and our member companies in Florida applaud Governor Scott’s acknowledgement of the contributions aviation businesses make to the state.”
Ed Bolen, president and CEO of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) said, “Using business aviation, companies in Florida can more effectively manage their daily operations, reach their customers, transport essential supplies and engage new marketplaces. We thank the governor for recognizing this reality with his proclamation.”
According to the proclamation, “More than 8.5 percent of Florida’s Gross State Product results from businesses dependent upon aviation.”
