The Alliance for Aviation Across America on Oct. 13, announced that Mayor Steve Williams of Huntington, W.V. will join its board of directors.
Mayor Williams was elected as Huntington’s 47th mayor on Nov. 6, 2012. Throughout his tenure, Mayor Williams has been a strong proponent of aviation and the Huntington Tri-State Airport, as well as a leader on economic development, drug and crime prevention and environmental issues, among many others. He began serving as the city’s director of economic development in 1984 and, later that same year, he was named the youngest city manager in Huntington’s history. Williams has also worked in finance, and served in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with Cum Laude honors from Marshall University in 1978 and a master’s degree in public administration from West Virginia University in 1980.
“I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Aviation Across America,” Mayor Williams said. “As the Mayor of a community that relies heavily on general aviation and our local airport, I understand firsthand the importance of reliable air service to our community’s economic growth and access to critical services.”
Mayor Williams joins a diverse Board of Directors that includes leaders from the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Helicopter Association International (HAI), the National Air Transportation Association (NATA), the National Farmers Union, the League of Rural Voters, and the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO).
