Legend Aviation, a Phillips 66 Aviation branded fixed base operator (FBO), will serve as the host FBO for the Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association’s (AOPA) fall Fly-In event. Prescott Airport, Ernest A. Love Field, was selected from a pool of more than 80 applicants all vying for an opportunity to host the popular general aviation event. Held at airports around the U.S., AOPA hosts four regional Fly-Ins annually. The final event for 2016 will be held at the Prescott Municipal Airport (KPRC), Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

“This is the first time that an AOPA Fly-In has been hosted in Arizona and visitors are truly in for a treat,” said Tom Juliani, general manager of Legend Aviation. “It’s beautiful flying in these parts with breathtaking vistas, red-rock buttes and canyons surrounding our location.”

At a minimum, hosting an AOPA Fly-In requires an infrastructure and systems that can safely and efficiently accommodate 500-plus aircraft and 1,000 cars. KPRC is the 32nd busiest airport in the country handling between 8,000 to 9,000 operations per day.

“Because we already support such a high volume of flights on a daily basis, we have refined the speed and accuracy of fueling light aircraft,” said Juliani. “Legend Aviation owns and operates multiple high-capacity, state-of-the-art avgas fuel trucks – one that holds 3,000 gallons and two others that have 2,000 gallon capacities. In addition to the equipment and fuel, we have a really strong team to support the event. We welcome the opportunity to host AOPA’s fall Fly-In.”

The Prescott Fly-In is being held in conjunction with OctoberWest, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s (ERAU) homecoming weekend. As part of its festivities, ERAU will present aerial demos featuring renowned alumnus Melissa Pemberton, who will perform an aerobatic display in one of the most high-performance aerobatic aircraft in the world, the Zivko Edge 540. Precision flying performer Bill Stein will round out the aerial entertainment during the show scheduled for noon on Saturday.

Phillips 66 Aviation is sponsoring the Fly-In’s Ice Cream Social. Additional aviation activities will include a Barnstormers Party, Rusty Pilot workshop, seminars, safety briefings, static displays, aviation product showcases and more.
