Lacy Lee has been asking for prayers for her son, Orlando.
Orlando is battling brain cancer, and he is in a lot of pain.
In June, doctors told Lee that Orlando only had six months to live, but Lee said a Wichita man may be responsible for saving Orlando’s life.
Lee said she refuses to give up hope because she has faith.
“God,” said Lee. “Him. He’s really strong, and he never complains, and he told me he will not give up.”
Doctors have told Lee they can’t help Orlando, but now there is hope.
A doctor in California told Lee he has a new treatment he can try for Orlando, but Lee was concerned about finances. The mother was unsure how she would get Orlando to California.
“I can’t drive him in a car,” said Lee. “We can’t fly commercial. He’s too sick.”
The Dragon Master Foundation stepped in to help.
They contacted Brad Pistotnik, asking to borrow his private jet to fly Orlando to Santa Monica.
“This struck my heart,” said Pistotnik. “It just seemed like I would have felt bad if I wouldn’t have done it.”
On Monday, Orlando will board Pistotnik’s plane to get treatment in California.
“I just couldn’t believe it,” said Lee. “It’s just so nice and generous, and I don’t know how to thank him.”
Eyewitness News gave Lee the chance to thank Pistotnik in person.
“You’re helping to save his life,” Lee said to Pistotnik.
“I hope that they can take the tumor out,” said Lee. “I’m hoping that they can shrink it enough to take it out, and I just want him to get back to normal.”
“Everybody deserves a chance, and when they don’t have enough money to pay for it, and I can do that for them, then I’m happy to give them that chance,” said Pistotnik. “It makes me feel very warm inside.”
“A lot of people have been praying for him, so I mean it’s working, and it’s coming together,” said Lee.
Lee said Orlando is uninsured. His family is paying cash for medical expenses, so they are accepting donations and prayers.
People can donate via dragonmasterfoundation.org or by texting “cancer” to 91999. The Dragon Master Foundation said the money will go directly to helping Orlando.
