Get an up-close look at U.S. fighter planes that did battle over the skies of Europe, Korea this weekend at the Waukesha County Airport.
The Gathering of Warbirds
Saturday August 27th, Waukesha County Airport – will feature a large collection of rare and vintage military aircraft on display, aircraft flyovers, and more aviation activities. The public can mingle with both pilots and veterans to hear their stories, learn about these amazing and rare airplanes, and then see them fly.
Hosted by the Commemorative Air Force Wisconsin Wing, and partnering with Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, this event will be family and vet focused with bargain admission to get “up close and personal” with the pilots and planes only $10 per car.
Rarely seen outside of museums, many famous warplanes will be on display and are scheduled to fly including the P-40 Warhawk, P-51 Mustang, and F-86 Sabre jet fighter, which have all been restored and maintained to their impressive original condition. Military vehicles will also be on display, along with World War II re-enactors.
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) – Wisconsin Wing, a branch of the National CAF organization, is a civilian group that shares a passion for military aviation history and is dedicated to the preservation and flying of vintage military aircraft.
Through social, educational, and public events, we promote camaraderie among our members and a public appreciation for our rich aviation heritage, while fostering a greater respect for our military and for those who served.
