The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) honored the Lee County Port Authority with the 2016 General Aviation Airport of the Year Award for Page Field (FMY). The airport was presented this top award at the Florida Airports Council Annual Conference in Bonita Springs, Fla. This is the third time FMY has received this prestigious honor.
“I am so proud to have Page Field acknowledged by the Florida Department of Transportation,” said Robert M. Ball, A.A.E., executive director of the Lee County Port Authority. “You cannot win this type of award without a total team effort and I applaud the employees at Page Field for making FMY an outstanding example of excellence in airport operations and service to general and business aviation.”
The FDOT Aviation Office awards the General Aviation Airport of the Year annually to one of the more than 100 public-use general aviation airports in the state of Florida. To be considered, the airport must demonstrate exceptional safety and security standards and have superior achievement in all aspects of aesthetics, management and customer service. Airports must successfully manage financial resources, have adequate and current master plans and knowledge of and compliance with state and federal rules and regulations.
