River Ridge Commerce Center and Clark Regional Airport Authority officials have long recognized and promoted their mutually beneficial relationship.
Now, they’re making things more official. The River Ridge Development Authority signed a joint marketing agreement during its meeting Monday that ensures both parties will promote the other.
“There’s a certain synergy involved between the two entities,” General Counsel David Lewis said. “As River Ridge is successful in its economic development efforts, the airport will, we think, become more successful — and vice versa.”
The agreement allowed Executive Director Jerry Acy to enter into negotiations for marketing with the airport authority, committing up to $40,000 in promotions.
Acy said he’s not exactly certain yet what joint marketing between the two will look like, though the two have mentioned each other in marketing in the past.
“We wanted a more formal relationship,” Acy said.
The airport is the only one in Clark County.
During its meeting Monday, the board also approved a $224,000 contract with Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz Inc. for the design of a lift station and force main near the River Ridge gateway.
The first few phases of work at the gateway, near the east-end bridge, involves creating a lake and preparing the land for future buildings. That work is ongoing.
The lift station will be tucked into a low area off to the side of the gateway. The force main will run along the boundary of the commerce center and tie into the existing force main near the Crystal Springs neighborhood.
The lift station will also serve the 1,730-acre megasite that is still undeveloped.
