Officials with the Louisiana Regional Airport hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 30 to celebrate the official opening of its 1000 feet runway extension. The completed project brings the airport’s runway to a total of 5000 feet.
As part of upgrades, The Ascension-St. James Airport and Transportation Authority, which operates the airport, purchased 28.3 acres of undeveloped woodlands south of the airport for $677,567 back in July.
Officials said work will begin to decide on land use soon.
A new paved parking lot had also recently added to the airport.
