Almost $340,000 in federal funding is on the way for the Cincinnati Municipal Lunken Airport and the Cincinnati West Airport in Harrison.
The two Hamilton County airports were awarded the funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation on Thursday, Sen. Sherrod Brown’s office announced.
“This federal investment is great news for the Cincinnati region and will enhance safety for these airports,” Brown said in a news release. “These improvements will go a long way in sustaining travel in and out of the airport for area residents and businesses.”
The Lunken airport will get $157,500 to repair the airport’s shortest runway that stretches from Wilmer Avenue southwest towards Kellogg Avenue.
The Harrison airport was awarded $180,115 to purchase a new visual guidance system and to conduct a wildlife hazard assessment.
