STEVENS POINT (WAOW) – Stevens Point Municipal Airport leaders say about 40 planes headed to and from the Experimental Aircraft Association fly-in and convention in Oshkosh have landed at the airport.
“Oshkosh is so busy and is so crowded, and airports like ours can help handle the influx of traffic,” said Jeff Graboski, an assistant at the airport.
The airport is expected to remain busy throughout the week as AirVenture continues through Sunday, he said.
Matt Staelens, a pilot from Cedarburg, dropped off some passengers at the airport Monday He plans to attend the aviation extravaganza on Wednesday.
“You can see the general aviation and the air shows are fun and the war birds, of course, are a big hit,” Staelens said.
Many of the pilots who land in Stevens Point park their planes on the runway and then take a daily bus to Oshkosh.
