Spirit AeroSystems hired about 200 people at its job fair on Saturday.
The Wichita-based aircraft supplier said in a statement to The Eagle on Monday afternoon that more than 2,000 people turned out for the event, held Saturday morning at the company’s South Oliver location.
The company had scheduled the job fair to fill 350 assembly mechanic positions, and the people it hired on Saturday were for those jobs.
Spirit also said it received “hundreds more resumes” on Saturday and that it will be interviewing for remaining open positions over the next couple of weeks.
In all, the company has about 500 open positions.
