A new FBO has opened at Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF), led by former owners of the Santa Fe and Scottsdale Jet Centers. The Jet Center at Santa Fe, which was awarded a 30-year lease by the city, began operations at the end of last month in a temporary trailer while it refurbishes an 1,800-sq-ft, city-owned formerFBO terminal that it will occupy on July 1. Of late, SAF was served only by Landmark Aviation, which acquired the location as part of its purchase of the Ross Aviation chain last year.
The new Avfuel-branded FBO has already installed a fuel farm and will break ground this summer on a 20,000-sq-ft heated hangar, which can accommodate aircraft up to the size of a G650. A second phase scheduled to begin in the fall calls for a 5,000-sq-ft terminal and 15,000-sq-ft hangar, which are expected to be completed in 2017. Total pricetag for the entire facility is $5 million.
