Pathways to Aviation, a Reno-based non-profit organization, has designated its section of the Reno-Stead Airport as the Aviation Learning Center.
During the week of September 16-20, activities in the Aviation Learning Center will actively engage Air Races patrons with the two components of the organization’s mission: aviation education and history.
The Aviation Learning Center, located on the eastern-most section of the air strip, will feature:
+ The National Aviation Heritage Invitational and its fleet of 30+ historic aircraft;
+ Large “Hangar” tent comprising aviation nonprofits and businesses and featuring many hands-on activities;
+ Large “Classroom” tent, featuring STEM, standards-based classes for K-12 students;
+ Large open-air experiential zone, allowing for special activities;
+ Workshops and presentations conducted by aviation experts, hall of fame enshrinees, and industry leaders; and,
+ Special events aimed at connecting aviation enthusiasts and aficionados, celebrating aviation, and discussing future opportunities.
“Our intent is for the popular Heritage area of the Reno-Stead Airport to be transformed into this exciting and meaningful Aviation Learning Center,” says Eric Henry, Pathways to Aviation board chairman. “Our goal is to take the patron experience to an entirely new level through education, hands-on experiences, and greater interactivity.”
Admission to the Aviation Learning Center is completely free of charge to everyone attending the National Championship Air Races.
