A recent statewide economic impact study done by the Missouri DOT found that the state’s nine commercial service and 99 public-use general aviation airports directly and indirectly generate $11.1 billion in annual output and support more than 100,000 jobs, according to the Missouri Airport Managers Association (MAMA).
This economic contribution was 17 percent higher than a study done 10 years ago.
At MAMA’s recent annual spring conference, Missouri state Sen. Mike Kehoe was presented with the inaugural Friend of Aviation Award. Brian Weiler, A.A.E., director of aviation at Springfield/Branson National Airport and incoming MAMA president, noted that the award was developed to recognize individuals who have provided significant support for Missouri aviation.
