April 06–Textron Aviation has named one of its test pilots to lead its Beechcraft and Cessna piston-engine aircraft business.
Doug May has been appointed vice president of piston aircraft, and will report to Textron Aviation CEO Scott Ernest.
May’s responsibilities include oversight of customer input and advanced design, manufacturing, customer delivery, and service and support.
May, who most recently was director of engineering flight test and experimental operations, has an air transport pilot rating with more than 5,500 experimental flight test hours.
Prior to joining Textron Aviation predecessor Cessna Aircraft Co. in 2006, May worked in flight test at Bombardier Learjet.
He has a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Kansas and is an associate fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
