A new flight school, Flight School of Greenville, has opened at Greenville Downtown Airport (KGMU) in South Carolina.
In one of two 1999 Cessna 172s with an autopilot and a GPS or in a six-seat Piper Lance aircraft, Flight School of Greenville can train private, instrument rated, commercial and certified flight instructor pilots. It specializes in accelerated, proficiency, pinch hitter and ground school courses. It also performs flight reviews and hasa pilot shop that sells supplies and aviation themed gifts.
For those who might be interested in becoming a pilot, The Flight School of Greenville has an Introductory Flight Lesson ($200) which includes 45 minutes of ground instruction which teaches flight fundamentals and how to prepare the airplane prior to flight; and another 45 minutes in the air with you at the controls for as much time as you feel comfortable with.
The Pinch Hitter Course teaches a friend or family member the skills necessary to land the aircraft. It is designed to provide comfort in knowing, that in the unfortunate event the pilot becomes unable to fly, that the non-pilot will be able to safely take the controls and land the airplane.
