The Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport Board approved applications Tuesday for two new businesses to be housed at the airport starting next month.
The board approved the applications of Radial Engines Limited of Cashion to perform commercial activities at the airport and Blue Skies Flight Training LLC to install a flight training school.
Board President Joe Underwood of Guthrie said adding two new businesses closes out a successful 2014.
“It has been a great year,” Underwood said. “We have picked up two great businesses for the airport.”
Underwood said Radial Engines Limited will operate a satellite hangar at GERA while Blue Skies Flight Training will be run by Matt Cole, who is a pilot and previously worked for another local flight school.
GERA manager Justin Heid said he expects both businesses to be operating by early to mid-January.
In other matters, Heid told the board the final design plans for a new pilots lounge and bathroom should be completed soon and sent to the Guthrie and Edmond city councils for approval.
“It will be exciting to have this in place before summer,” Heid said.
Heid updated the board on several ongoing hangar development projects and said there is current interest by an individual in constructing an eight-unit T-hanger.
