Airport fun and facts, for all ages: That’s the promise of Aviation Day on Saturday at Page Field in Fort Myers.
The event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking and admission are free. However, organizers welcome a donation of nonperishable food items to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.
Aviation Day is an annual community event hosted by the Lee County Port Authority with the purpose of increasing community awareness of our airports – Southwest Florida International Airport and Page Field.
As in years prior, World War II-era aircraft are among the chief attractions. This year’s cast includes a North American B-25J Mitchell, a
North American P-51 Mustang and a Douglas C-47 Skytrain. There are free activities for children, including a giant slide and bounce house, clowns and face painting.
Among other attractions: antique and general aviation aircraft, airplane and helicopter rides (for a fee), performances by the Southwest Florida Big Band, airport police and fire department demonstrations, aviation-themed shopping, food and more.
Parking is available off North Airport Road and U.S. 41 with complimentary shuttle bus transportation.
