SIERRA VISTA — The 21st annual Sierra Vista Municipal Airport Fly-In and Open House will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Sierra Vista Municipal Airport, showcasing the science of aviation and aircraft displays.
This family-friendly event is geared to kids ages 8-17, introducing them to aviation and providing an opportunity to fly in a private plane with local pilots free of charge. The limited free flights are offered to the first 200 youth on a first come-first served basis, and require signed permission slip from a parent/guardian.
More than 5,093 children have flown as “Young Eagles” with the Sierra Vista Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) since 1993. Kids are introduced into the exciting world of aviation through flights and aircraft displays, while also learning about the general aviation activities at the Sierra Vista Municipal Airport.
Aircraft displays featuring Military static will also be displayed at this EAA-sponsored event, and a pancake and Mexican breakfast will be available 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Cost for breakfast is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
The Sierra Vista Municipal Airport is located three miles north of the Buffalo Soldier Trail and Fry Boulevard intersection, on the west side of State Route 90 at 2100 Airport Drive.
