  • ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Two rescued dogs got a first-class private jet ride to Asheville for some much needed orthopedic surgery thanks to Pilots n Paws.

The volunteer non-profit helps transport adoptable animals from kill shelters to loving homes.

Dr. David Crouch, a surgeon with Western Carolina Veterinary Surgery in Asheville will treat the pups free of charge.

Dr. Crouch picked them up Tuesday night; he also volunteers as a pilot with the group.

“Sometimes it works out if you are already going in that direction [I] might as well load up a dog or two anyway or if you have the opportunity to help,” Dr. Crouch said.

There is no charge to the adopter; it’s entirely free thanks to the volunteers.

The two dogs are expected to make a full recovery and return to Greensboro as early as Thursday.
