Binghamton (WIVT) – The Greater Binghamton Airport is the Greater Binghamton Chamber Business of the Week.
Located in the Town of Maine, the airport hosts three of the country’s leading commercial airlines: Delta, United and USAirways, which will soon be re-branded American.
Together, they provide service to Detroit, Philadelphia and Newark with connections to airports around the world.
Broome County Aviation Commissioner Carl Beardsley, Jr. said the airport registers between 20,000-22,000 takeoffs and landings each year, carrying around 200,000 passengers.
Beardsley said the airport is always looking for new ways to stay competitive, including a flier loyalty program.
“The more people that are in our program, fly out of the Binghamton airport, they receive rewards. And it’s been a very innovative approach to making sure that customer loyalty exists here at the Binghamton airport,” he said.
Beardsley said the airport has a $52 million annual economic impact on the area.
He says 150 people work for various employers at the complex and another 300 jobs in the community are dependent on the airport.
