A small group traveling to almost every state in the U.S. made a stop in Wichita Friday.
The Capital Air Tour travels around the country to promote smaller municipal airports. The two pilots on the trip landed at Yingling Aviation Friday afternoon, and plan to stop at capitals in 49 states by Monday.
“What we’re doing is promoting general aviation, and general aviation airports,” said Field Morey, one of the two pilots. “My father was an early distributor for Cessna Aircraft Company, so I’m happy to be back at the Air Capital of the World right here in Wichita.”
The pilots wanted to stop in Wichita instead of Topeka because of the strong ties to aviation history. The only state the tour does not plan on going to is Hawaii.
