The Springfield City Council will decide Monday whether to approve a $5.6 million project that would clear the way for more hangars at the Springfield-Branson National Airport.
Currently, there are 27 general aviation hangars, which can house 109 private aircraft, according to the Springfield-News Leader. The 12-acre redevelopment will make land available for eight additional hangars, which another entity — likely corporations — would have to build.
About $5 million of the funding would come from a Missouri Department of Transportation grant. The airport would pay the remaining $565,563.
Companies considering a move to Springfield often find that there is inadequate space for their corporate jets, Jeff Seifried of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce told the News-Leader.
