  • Signature Flight Support Corp. is kicking the new year off with the purchase of California-based Maguire Aviation Group LLC’s assets at Van Nuys Airport, the company announced Jan. 2.

The deal between Orlando-based Signature Flight Support and Maguire Aviation is valued at $69 million, the Los Angeles Business Journal reports.

The acquisition means Signature Flight Support now will be the largest leaseholder at Vans Nuys Airport, with a combined footprint of 1.17 million square feet of hangar, ramp, passenger lounges and office space at its fixed-base operations facility.

“The expanded Signature Flight Support footprint created by this acquisition provides our customers with additional world-class flight support services at Van Nuys,” said Maria Sastre, president and chief operating officer of Signature Flight Support. “We are excited to welcome the staff of Maguire Aviation to the Signature Flight Support global family. We also look forward to serving an expanded base of Signature Flight Support customers”

Van Nuys Airport serves the Los Angeles metro area and ranks as the sixth busiest airport in the world with more than 250,000 total aircraft movements in 2012, according to a news release.

Signature Flight Support, a BBA Aviation Plc. company, is the world’s largest fixed-base operation and distribution network for business aviation services. The company operates more than 100 locations throughout the U.S., Europe, South America, Africa and Asia.
