  • Gulfstream Aerospace and Jet Aviation parent company General Dynamics announced on Friday that it is promoting Robert Smith to president of Jet Aviation. He will report to Joe Lombardo, executive vice president of General Dynamics’ aerospace group.

Smith succeeds Daniel Clare, who is being tapped as the CFO of Gulfstream. Both appointments are effective January 1.

Smith has been the vice president and CFO of Basel, Switzerland-based Jet Aviation since July last year and has been responsible for oversight of all financial functions. Previously, he was vice president and CFO of General Dynamics Nassco, the parent company’s San Diego-based shipbuilding, maintenance and repair company. He joined General Dynamics at its electric boat subsidiary in 1989.

Clare has been at the helm of business aviation services firm Jet Aviation since July 2011. He joined Gulfstream in 1998 as director of finance for aircraft services. Clare succeeds Jason Aiken, who has been named senior vice president and CFO for General Dynamics.
