EagleMed Expands to Alaska

  • Wichita, Kan., July 23, 2013 – EagleMed LLC will manage the aviation assets of Alaska Regional Hospital’s LifeFlight air ambulance program, extending the Wichita-based company’s North American reach to its furthest point west.

    EagleMed is a leader in the air medical industry. LifeFlight is Alaska Regional Hospital’s specialized fixed-wing medevac service based in Anchorage, Alaska. EagleMed assumed responsibility for the hospital’s fixed wing flight operations on July 15, 2013.

    In this integrated business model, clinical care will be managed by Alaska Regional Hospital. Customer services as well as business relations will be integrated and managed by the hospital. EagleMed will operate the aircraft, a twin-engine King Air B200, and provide the pilots for this specialized service.

    Chief Executive Officer of Alaska Regional Hospital Annie Holt said, “We are pleased to enter into this partnership with EagleMed, which will greatly enhance our ability to provide safe, high-quality critical care during aeromedical transport.”

    Now with 28 locations in 10 states, EagleMed is a growing operation with a fleet of 15 medically equipped Eurocopter AS350 helicopters and 15 Beechcraft King Air fixed-wing aircraft and approximately 400 highly trained employees. EagleMed is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) and dedicates the company’s resources to providing the highest quality patient care in the safest environment possible.

    LifeFlight provides air medical transport service throughout Alaska and to facilities in the lower 48 states. It has been in operation since 1985, and was first in the Alaska to meet national standards by employing flight teams comprised of registered nurses and certified paramedics.

    Alaska Regional is also the only non-military hospital in the state where fixed-wing aircraft can taxi to the hospital doors, saving critical time for patients in need of care. LifeFlight is also fully accredited by the CAMTS.

    State-of-the-Art Equipment and Safety Focus

    EagleMed maintains a fully staffed, technologically advanced, 24-hour communications center in Wichita. The company operates state-of-the-art aircraft equipment and modern, up-to-date clinical equipment. Pilots at EagleMed undergo extensive aviation and rigorous safety training to include simulation with Flight Safety International. Additionally, all EagleMed fixed wing pilots have their Air Transport Pilot ratings.

    EagleMed’s senior leadership has a combined total of 150 years of aviation safety experience.
